Congratulations to Diya!

Diya is a winner for the Scholastic Jr. Death Valley persuasive writing contest.  Back in April, we sent our letters to Scholastic Jr. hoping that we would have winners, and we are happy to announce that we have one.  Congratulations to Diya, and also to all of 3C for writing excellent persuasive letters this year!  You all worked extremely hard and published very convincing letters.

Pictures of State Floats

Hello 3C Families.

It is blueprint time!  In order to help you all plan out the design of your floats, I am posting some pictures.  Please use them as only a guide.  Sometimes seeing a picture can help the project make more sense.  Have fun!I can’t wait to see the designs. Remember-  as soon as blueprints are turned in, I will look at them, and once approved building can begin!

https://go.scholastic.com/index.html

The Scholastic Go link is super helpful!!! This site has a tremendous amount of information.  This will be especially helpful once you have chosen your wonders and you need to research them.  When you type in your state into the search bar, a ton of information will pop up and each one links to different articles.  Also, you can do separate researches for each of your wonders.  For example, if you are wanting to learn more about the Statue of Liberty for your man- made structure, you can type Statue of Liberty into the search bar, and lots of resources on that topic will pop up for you.  Try it out!

Last Week’s Challenge

Here are some pictures from Mr. G’s challenge for our class last Wednesday.

At the start of this challenge they had to work together in order to get a small ball from one side of a “pipeline” to the other.  The challenge soon increased when they met the original one fairly easily. For the second part,  Mr. G. asked them to move as the ball crossed each section so that their “pipeline” would be near the end of the hallway.  They met that challenge too!  Way to go, 3C!

I hope you can see how engaged and positive they are during these challenges.
